Neck Liposuction: Is it right for you?
The best candidates for neck liposuction will be at an ideal weight for their height and wish to effectively reduce or remove pockets of excess fat around the cheeks, chin and jowls. Prior to surgery, it is important that you are physically healthy, psychologically stable and realistic in your expectations. Age is not typically a major consideration for neck liposuction; however, older patients may not be able to achieve the same results as younger patients due to diminished skin elasticity.

What to Expect During your Neck Liposuction
Neck liposuction is typically performed under local anesthesia; however, more extensive procedures may require general anesthesia. During your neck liposuction procedure, Dr. Ku will insert a narrow tube or cannula through a small incision, generally made behind the ears. The tube or cannula will then be used as a vacuum to suction out fat cells localized under the neck and face areas. Once your procedure is complete, Dr. Ku will close the incision with sutures.
Recovery and Aftercare
It is realistic to anticipate some discomfort following surgery. Some patients experience a burning sensation or numbness for a few days. Dr. Ku may prescribe pain medication to alleviate any discomfort you may be experiencing. You may also experience drainage for a couple of days after surgery. A small drainage tube may be inserted underneath the skin to prevent fluid build-up.
The recovery process varies among patients, but most are able to resume normal activities including work within a week of surgery. Swelling and bruising should be completely resolved within a month of surgery. Dr. Ku will provide you will specific instructions for gradually resuming more strenuous activities such as exercise.
