Botox Cosmetic
The first signs of aging often appear as fine lines or wrinkles around the eyes or the forehead. Genetics, age, sun exposure and stress levels can all contribute to more prominent facial wrinkling. Individuals seeking a non-invasive alternative to more drastic facial rejuvenation procedures often turn to Botox Cosmetic to combat signs of aging.
Botox Cosmetic: Is it right for you?
If you are bothered by the appearance of frown lines and crow’s feet on your face, you may be a potential candidate for Botox. The best candidates are men and women between the ages of 18 and 65 who wish to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on their face without cosmetic surgery. Over the past several years Botox has become increasingly popular with men. Most men who seek out Botox injections are in their 30s and wish to fight the earliest signs of aging.
During your consultation with Dr. Ku, he will be able to determine if you are an ideal candidate for Botox based on your cosmetic goals, medical history, drug allergies and skin tone. With Dr. Ku, you will also be able to discuss the potential risks, benefits and expectations. Before and after photos will also be available for your perusal.
What to Expect During you Botox Cosmetic Procedure
Botox injections are typically a quick outpatient procedure that can be performed in less than an hour. Some are even able to fit the procedure into their lunch break. Dr. Ku will use a syringe to inject Botox into the affected areas of your forehead. A local anesthetic cream or icepack may be used to alleviate any potential discomfort from the injections. Once injected, Botox will block the nerve impulses of the muscles of your forehead, resulting in a reduction of wrinkles on the skin’s surface.
Recovery and Aftercare
You may experience some minor discomfort during or immediately after the procedure. Discomfort is typically mild and temporary. There is virtually no down time required after Botox injections are administered and you should be able to resume normal activities immediately.
Results of Botox usually become visible within 24-48 hours of the procedure. Full results will be apparent within 2 weeks of your injection. Most individuals can expect to maintain results for up to 4 months. Botox is not a permanent procedure and requires regular maintenance to prolong results.
